Some books stay with you. These are the references that have helped me and guided the way I think about maintenance and reliability. I’ve brought them together here, with a few notes to help you find your next read.

A note from Joss
These books have helped me and guided my thinking. If you’re building your own reliability shelf, these are the three I’d start with.

My starting point for maintenance decisions. It brings me back to the right questions: what must this asset do, how can it fail, and what matters when it does?

A reminder to keep the strategy alive. The analysis is a beginning; the real value comes from putting it into practice and keeping it relevant.

The practical companion. Good reliability thinking needs well-prepared work, clear priorities and a schedule the team can actually deliver.
I hope you find something here that helps you, too. — Joss
The references that hold up in daily use. Sensors, IIoT and AI made most of them more relevant, not less.
Historically essential documents. They created the discipline, but they predate IIoT, modern analytics and AI – treat them as foundations, not operating manuals.
Less famous than the classics, but this is where mature sites get most of their gains – often more than from any new technology.
